Waterfront Free RV Camping at Porcupine Reservoir near Paradise, UT

Not only is this dispersed camping area absolutely gorgeous, the drive through Paradise, Utah to get there is lovely as well. I spent a couple of days in Odgen and this was the closest Free RV Camping spot I could find nearby to enjoy over Memorial Day weekend. It did not disappoint! Video

The campsite at the water’s edge in the featured photo above is not the area for RVs. You drive a bit further past the dam to the end of the reservoir and will see a large open grassy area with a boat launch area (and more space to camp) on the right. To view both watch the video below.

Well maintained gravel road but a bit tight

The waterfall area across the street

Do you love falling asleep to the sound of running water? A small tributary waterfall of sorts flows into the reservoir from the other side of the road, five minutes walking distance.

The gravel dirt road is very well maintained, with next to nil washboarding and is flat the entire way to the end of the reservoir. It took me around 20 minutes to drive to the end.

It is definitely a bit tight, not two full lanes. I just took it slow and when saw another vehicle pulled over a bit to let them pass. No biggie. The only large turnaround for RVs is at the free camping area.

Swim, boat, fish, hike, kayak to your heart’s content!

All the camping spots are right on the water. There are a few that have a pull out parking spot of sorts on the other side of the highway, then a place for a tent next to the reservoir and rocks that jutt out over the water for pole fishing.

A few off road vehicle enthusiasts showed up one afternoon

The only large area for RVs is at the end of the road, can’t miss it and do not freak out like I did (about 700 feet before I arrived) that you were being led to a dead end with no turn around. LOL.

So much misinformation online, with no way to really verify how accurate it is. I got lucky with this one and am sharing with you to enjoy as well. Cheers.

There’s next to nil cellular coverage

It was a bummer but I could not get online, make phone calls, etc. The only things I could do with my 5G iPhone and Verizon service was to send and receive text messages and post to Facebook groups with the app.

Share the RV Fun!
