Snake River Canyons Park Free RV Camping Near Twin Falls, ID

You’ve probably snaked around this river at some point if you’ve driven I-84 through Idaho to Oregon. The largest tributary to the Columbia River, Snake River begins in Wyoming and crosses through Idaho and Washington before flowing into the Columbia Basin near Tri-Cities, WA. Video

Snake River Canyons Park is just a few minutes from Twin Falls, ID off of Highway 93, just past the pretty Snake River overlook where I shot the featured photo above. The camping area is called “Ricketts RV Camp.”

Lots of activities at Snake River Canyons Park!

This location is hard to find, here’s the GPS coordinates

This dispersed camping area is confusing to find and is mentioned only once on any of the RV travel or boondocking apps that I could find. It isn’t easy to locate because:

  1. Shoshone Falls Road off of Higway 93 is unmarked. Super confusing when driving and if you miss it like I did first time around, have to drive three miles up to I-84 to turn around, or a mile or so to Twin Falls and head back.
  2. The RV park page on the Snake River Canyons Park website is burried, I found it via a Google search. They list the address as “Shoshone Falls Rd, Twin Falls, ID. Read above about no sign for Shoshone Falls Road. Jeez.
  3. The entrance off Highway 93 has a sign that says “Open dawn to dusk”.

Nope, it’s open past dusk, you just have to ignore that sign and drive up a little ways to see the entrance to Snake River Canyons Park and Ricketts RV Camp on your left.

The GPS coordinates are:

42.72354 N , 114.34495 W

The video accidentally got shot at an angle, apologies! YouTube Studio has removed the ability to rotate it to normal in editing mode so left it. It’s not too annoying to watch, really. 🙂 I had already deleted it permanently so couldn’t edit then re-upload to YouTube. Sigh.

If you want a nice free camping spot near Twin Falls, ID this can’t be beat, so check it out! There is a five day camping limit.

I had excellent cellular coverage

I watched movies, uploaded videos etc. at this location with my 5G iPhone and Verizon service.
