When I visited Aqua Caliente County Park and checked out the hot spring pools I wanted to stay overnight but the campground was booked full. As I headed south towards Yuma on desolate Highway S2 I noticed a few large rigs parked in the surrounding desert landscape and decided to pull over as well. Video

It was a lovely setting. The featured photo above was the view I woke up to in the morning; pretty amazing yes? To get a panoramic view of the area check out the video below!

Ecology of Carrizo Badlands

Strangely enough, as I walked around after I parked I noticed a sign nearby placed in this seemingly ‘middle of nowhere’ location, with information on the geology and history of the area. Kinda cool 🙂

This area is a part of the Carrizo Badlands. I’m not sure if this specific spot is officially a part of the massive 640,000 Anza-Borrego Desert State Park but it is just outside of Aqua Caliente County Park. I drove for maybe 15 minutes before stopping to park, eat, and sleep.
